Frequently asked questions
- What is TradingLead?
- TradingLead is a charting, screening and strategy-research workspace for traders, focused on Indian markets. It combines charts, indicators (including Pine and Python), a stock screener, backtesting, bar replay and paper trading. It runs in the browser at tradinglead.in/charts and as desktop apps for Windows and macOS, and is operated by Shubh TradingLead Pvt. Ltd.
- Is TradingLead free?
- No. TradingLead offers a five-day free trial starting from the date you join. After the trial, continued access requires a paid TradingLead Pro membership or a one-time 30-day pass. There is no permanent free tier.
- How much does TradingLead Pro cost?
- The configured India price is ₹199 per month plus 18% GST (₹234.82 total), as an auto-renewing monthly membership or a non-renewing 30-day pass at the same price. The configured price for eligible buyers outside India is USD 2.99. Always confirm the final amount, tax and currency at checkout.
- Does the TradingLead subscription renew automatically, and can I get a refund?
- The monthly membership renews automatically until you stop renewal; the 30-day pass does not renew. The published refund policy generally excludes refunds, with discretionary review for technical non-delivery or significant misdescription. Stopping renewal does not refund an existing payment.
- Which markets and instruments can I chart on TradingLead?
- The built-in feed covers TradingLead's published Indian catalogue, including NSE equity symbols and published Nifty indices. A connected FYERS account adds supported NSE/BSE equities and indices plus NSE/BSE/MCX futures; Dhan adds NSE/BSE cash equities. Coverage is not a guarantee for every instrument.
- Can I see Indian options (CE/PE) charts on TradingLead?
- Not currently. The FYERS website connector supports futures but rejects CE/PE option contracts, and the Dhan connector supports cash equities only. TradingLead does not offer an Indian options-chart or option-chain feature today.
- Is TradingLead data real-time?
- It depends on the data source. A connected FYERS account can stream opt-in live quotes for entitled accounts. The built-in cloud data is not promised as real-time exchange ticks or as a fixed delay, and other broker feeds such as Dhan currently provide historical candles.
- Which broker data feeds can I connect?
- On the website you can connect FYERS and Dhan as chart data sources, subject to configuration and account eligibility, from the data-feed setup. Zerodha Kite is available only in TradingLead Desktop through an experimental session connector. Connecting a feed never places orders.
- What chart types and timeframes does TradingLead support?
- The chart offers 13 styles, including candles, bars, Heikin Ashi, hollow candles, line break, baseline and area. Presets run from 1 to 240 minutes plus daily, weekly and monthly, and you can enter custom whole-minute intervals from 1 to 1440 minutes. Second-based intervals are not offered.
- Can I view multiple charts at once?
- Yes. The chart workspace supports single, two side-by-side, two stacked and four-chart layouts with resizable panes. You can link symbol and interval across panes on the same feed. Crosshairs are not synchronized between panes.
- Can I run my TradingView Pine Script on TradingLead?
- Some Pine v5 and v6 indicators run directly and others need changes. TradingLead supports a documented Pine v5/v6 subset and classifies each pasted script as Works directly, Works with approximations, Needs conversion or Unavailable. TradingView-hosted data calls and imported published libraries are not supported, and exact numerical parity is not promised.
- Can I write indicators in Python?
- Yes. Indicator Studio lets you write a Python calculate(bars, params) function that returns plots and drawings. Compatible indicators run in the browser in a sandboxed Pyodide runtime with the standard library, NumPy and pandas. TradingLead Desktop is needed for other or native packages and the TradingLead SDK.
- Can I share or sell my indicators?
- Not yet. Indicator sharing links, a public community library and paid indicator sales are not publicly available. Saved Pine and Python indicators are stored per account in the browser on your device, and you can export and import a library backup file.
- Which built-in technical indicators are available?
- The Indicators dialog includes the built-in studies of the bundled charting library, such as moving averages, EMA, RSI, MACD, VWAP, Supertrend, Bollinger Bands, ATR, Stochastic and Ichimoku, plus TradingLead studies such as an EMA 20/50/100/200 bundle and a support and resistance study.
- How does backtesting work on TradingLead?
- You write a strategy in Python or as a Pine strategy() script and run it on up to 20,000 closed candles. Signals fill on the next candle, and default assumptions are 1,00,000 starting capital, 5 basis points commission and 2 basis points slippage, all editable. Taxes are not modelled in backtests. There is no no-code strategy builder.
- Does TradingLead have a strategy optimizer?
- Yes. The Optimize tab tests parameter combinations for Python and Pine strategies using a full-period sweep, a train-test holdout, or walk-forward analysis with 1 to 5 folds. Grids are limited to 12 combinations. It is designed to expose overfitting, not to find a guaranteed best setting.
- What is bar replay on TradingLead?
- Bar replay hides future candles and reveals completed candles one at a time from a date you pick, at speeds from 0.1 to 200 bars per second. You can pause and open a paper trade from that point to practise decisions on historical data without real money.
- Does TradingLead support paper trading?
- Yes. Paper trading uses virtual money with market, limit, stop and stop-limit orders, optional stop-loss and target, and configurable commission and slippage. You can practise on bar replay or forward-test a completed backtest on live 1 to 240 minute charts. No real broker orders are ever placed.
- Can TradingLead place real trades through my broker?
- No. TradingLead's backtesting, replay and paper trading are simulations and have no broker-order client. Connecting a broker only provides chart data. TradingLead is a research and practice tool, not an order-execution platform.
- How does the TradingLead stock screener work?
- The screener in the chart's Scan sidebar offers presets such as gainers, losers, volume breakout and 52-week high, plus custom conditions on price, volume, returns, SMA, EMA and RSI with up to 30 conditions per rule. It reads stored candles on 5-minute to monthly timeframes, not live quotes, and uses a daily scan allowance.
- Can TradingLead send alerts to my phone or email?
- No. TradingLead creates price-level and trendline alerts that are saved to your account, but they are checked only while the charts workspace is open and triggers appear inside the app. Email, SMS, push and webhook delivery are not available.
- Is there a TradingLead desktop app?
- Yes. Desktop installers are published for Windows 10 or later on Intel/AMD x64 (an unsigned preview) and for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 12 or later (signed and notarized). Desktop loads the hosted app in native windows and adds local feeds and native Python; it is not fully offline. Download from tradinglead.in/download.
- Is there a TradingLead mobile app?
- No standalone Android or iOS app has been verified. TradingLead is available in a web browser and as desktop apps for Windows and macOS.
- Can AI assistants control TradingLead?
- Yes, through TradingLead Desktop. The Apple Silicon Mac build 0.1.8 includes a tradinglead command-line tool and public skills for external assistants such as GitHub Copilot to drive charts, scripts and simulations. The connection places no live broker orders and exposes no broker credentials.
- How do I sign in to TradingLead?
- TradingLead supports email OTP, WhatsApp OTP, and email with password after you verify your email and set a password. SMS OTP is available only when enabled by platform configuration.
- Is TradingLead investment advice?
- No. TradingLead provides charting, screening and simulation tools for education and research. Screener matches, indicator signals and backtest results are not buy or sell recommendations, and past or simulated results do not guarantee future returns.
- Who operates TradingLead and how do I contact them?
- TradingLead is operated by Shubh TradingLead Pvt. Ltd. The published contact email is shubham@tradinglead.in, and contact details are on the tradinglead.in contact page.
