Feature
Control TradingLead Charts with AI Agents
TradingLead Desktop includes a local command connection and a built-in tradinglead command-line tool. With them, AI assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code can operate charts, indicators, the screener, alerts, backtests and paper trading. Managed setup arrived in Desktop 0.1.8 for Apple Silicon Macs and needs no MCP server. Assistants cannot place live broker orders.
What it does
TradingLead can be operated by your own AI assistant. That might be GitHub Copilot CLI, Claude Code or another agent that can run terminal commands. Instead of describing a chart to the assistant, you ask it to do the work. It can open a symbol, change the interval, add an indicator, run a screen, set a price alert or run a backtest. It then reports what TradingLead returned.
The connection is provided by TradingLead Desktop. TradingLead does not supply the AI model; it supplies a command connection and a set of public, documented skills.
How it works
Desktop 0.1.8 (macOS, Apple Silicon) added managed AI integration:
- A built-in
tradingleadcommand-line tool that bundles its own runtime, so no separate Node.js install is needed. Useful commands includetradinglead --help,tradinglead agent-guideandtradinglead skills list. - Managed public skills, which setup registers for GitHub Copilot. Other assistants can read the same guidance through
tradinglead agent-guide. - No MCP server to configure.
Setup is offered on first launch and is also available under Help > AI integrations, where you can enable, repair, update or disable it. Setup keeps any skills you already own and grants no account or trading permissions. Skill updates come from the public repository, are checked against a SHA-256 hash and the app's compatibility rules, and are checked at most once a day. If an update fails, the packaged version is used.
The skills are public at github.com/Shubham-vish/tradinglead-skills. Developers can also install them manually with Node.js 18+ (node install.cjs).
Key capabilities
Skills cover these areas:

Limitations
- Desktop only. Website-only tabs cannot be controlled by external assistants.
- Managed setup shipped in 0.1.8 for Apple Silicon Macs. The current public Windows build is older and lacks it, so check the download page.
- No live trading. Assistants cannot place broker orders, sign in for you, connect a broker or approve cloud writes themselves.
- Commands depend on what the open tab supports. A compatible skill bundle does not guarantee that every command works on every page.
- AI output is yours to check. Backtests and screens are research, not advice.
Desktop access follows your plan; see pricing.
FAQ

Does setup change my shell or existing skills? Existing user-owned skills and shell configuration are preserved.
Can I stop the assistant? Yes. Pause the local connection in the AI Workspace or disable the integration under Help > AI integrations.
Limitations
- Requires TradingLead Desktop; browser tabs cannot be controlled externally.
- Managed setup is in Desktop 0.1.8 for macOS Apple Silicon.
- No live broker orders.
- Cloud writes need a real sign-in and permission; an assistant cannot sign in or connect a broker for you.
