Feature
Multi-Chart Layouts and Symbol Linking
TradingLead offers a single chart, two side-by-side charts, two stacked charts and a four-chart grid. The active pane can drive linked symbols or intervals; symbol linking stays within the same feed, and synchronized crosshairs are not supported.
What it does
Multi-chart layouts divide the TradingLead chart workspace into independently controlled panes. They help separate questions: an index versus an equity, two equities at one interval, or one symbol at daily and intraday intervals.
There are four arrangements: Single chart, Two side by side, Two stacked and Four charts. The four-chart arrangement is the largest visible split layout described here. Native Desktop tabs and the sidebar Chart Grid are different features, not extra pane counts.
How the active pane works
One pane is active at a time. Click the chart you intend to change before using chart controls. Its symbol, feed, interval, drawings and studies belong to that chart context.
This distinction becomes important when linking panes. TradingLead does not merge all panes into a single instrument state. Instead, the active pane drives selected changes to other visible panes. Inspect the results after a change rather than assuming every chart has completed loading at once.
The layout menu includes Focus active chart to enlarge the active pane temporarily and Restore split charts to return to the arrangement. You can resize splits to give a detailed chart more room while retaining the other research views.
Key capabilities
- Two-pane arrangements for horizontal or vertical comparison.
- A four-chart view for a small research dashboard.
- Separate symbol and interval linking switches.
- Independent feed selection when you intentionally compare sources.
- Account-scoped local split preferences.
- Saved chart layouts for individual chart setups.
Saved native chart layouts are not the same as saving a complete four-pane workspace. Loading a saved layout replaces the active chart's setup and can discard unsaved chart work. Keep meaningful chart saves separate from assumptions about browser-local split restoration.
Symbol and interval linking
Link symbol changes eligible visible panes when the active chart's symbol changes. It deliberately does not push a symbol into a pane using another feed, because providers can use different instrument namespaces.
Link interval propagates the active interval independently of symbol linking. Other panes must still be able to serve that interval. Linking is not a capability upgrade: a provider cannot return history it does not support.
For multi-timeframe research, enable Link symbol and keep Link interval off. For a same-interval comparison of different stocks, leave symbol linking off and enable interval linking. Enable both only when you want the active symbol and interval aligned.
How to use
- Open the chart workspace and choose Chart layout.
- Select a two-pane or four-pane arrangement.
- Activate each pane and verify its feed and instrument.
- Choose the linking switches that match your research task.
- Change the active symbol or interval and wait for each pane to settle.
- Focus a pane when needed, then restore the split view.
The multiple-chart guide walks through two practical configurations and checks for mismatched sources.
Limitations
There is no synchronized crosshair between split panes. Linking symbols or intervals does not promise synchronized zoom, drawings, scroll position or historical cursor position.
The sidebar Chart Grid is a cloud-history card gallery. It is not the split-chart system and does not automatically use your broker feed. A+B creates Compare/Overlay series on a chart rather than opening another independently controlled pane.
Four charts can also make labels and candles difficult to read on a small screen. Reduce the pane count before interpreting a cramped display. Platform access follows the five-day trial and subscription model, not an unlimited free-layout promise.
FAQ
Why did another pane keep its old symbol?
Check whether it uses a different feed, is visible and has finished mounting. Same-feed symbol linking is deliberate; reconnecting a broker is not the first fix for a layout mismatch.
Are split settings saved across devices?
The verified split preference storage is local and account-scoped in the current browser. Do not treat it as a guaranteed cross-device workspace service.
Limitations
- Maximum visible split layout is four panes.
- No synchronized crosshair.
- Split preferences are locally account-scoped, not a promised cross-device workspace preset.
Frequently asked questions
- How many charts can I display together?
- TradingLead's split-layout menu supports one chart, two side-by-side, two stacked or four charts.
- Can I link the same stock across different timeframes?
- Yes. Enable Link symbol and leave Link interval off. Symbol changes follow the active pane only into visible panes using the same feed.
- Do crosshairs move together?
- No. Split layouts provide symbol and interval linking, not synchronized crosshairs.
- Is the A+B button a two-chart layout?
- No. A+B is the native Compare/Overlay control. Use Chart layout for separate panes.
