How to Set Price and Trendline Alerts in TradingLead

To set a price alert in TradingLead, open a chart at /charts, open the Alerts sidebar, choose Price level or Trendline, place the line and press Add alert. Rules are saved to your account but checked only while a TradingLead charts workspace is open. Triggers appear in the Activity view; there is no email, SMS or push delivery.

What it does

This guide shows how to put a price-level or trendline alert on a TradingLead chart and how to make sure it is actually being watched. Read the monitoring section before you rely on an alert. TradingLead alerts are checked inside the app, not on a server.

How it works

An alert is a saved rule: a line, a condition such as crosses above, a price source and a repeat setting. The rule is saved to your account. Checking happens in your open TradingLead charts workspace, which samples quotes and candles for the symbol. When the rule is met, the event is recorded in the Alerts panel's Activity view.

If no charts workspace is open, no checks run. After you reopen or reload the page, your rules come back and TradingLead starts new price baselines. Crossings that happened while the page was closed are not filled in afterwards.

Key capabilities

  • Price level (horizontal) and Trendline (two-point) alerts
  • Conditions: Crosses above, Crosses below, Crosses either way, Touches the line
  • Repeat: Only once, Once per bar, Every detected crossing
  • A price source that controls which candle price is checked
  • A saved alert list with search and filters, plus pause, resume and delete

How to use

1. Open the chart and Alerts panel

Sign in at /charts and load the symbol, for example from a screener shortlist. Choose the chart interval you want. Then open the Alerts sidebar. Its Current chart section shows the symbol and interval.

2. Draw the line

  • Price level: click Price level, then place the horizontal line. You can type the exact Price level or nudge it with the − and + buttons, each of which moves it by 0.1% of the current price.
  • Trendline: click Trendline and draw it across two points, for example along a rising support line. Drawing tools explains drawing on the chart.

Press Cancel in the status bar if you want to start again.

3. Choose the rule

In the builder:

  1. Condition: pick Crosses above, Crosses below, Crosses either way or Touches the line.
  2. Price source: with close, a newer candle must confirm the close, so a signal at the end of a session may appear in the next session. With wick, checking starts from the next candle. Other sources sample candle prices, not every live tick.
  3. Repeat: choose Only once for a single heads-up, or Once per bar or Every detected crossing for repeated detections.

The builder also shows Message and Expires fields. The backend support for them is documented as not yet deployed, so don't depend on them being saved.

4. Add the alert

Press Add alert. The footer shows Saved to account once the rule is stored. If it says Not saved, use the reload button to discard local changes and load your saved alerts.

5. Keep it monitored and check Activity

  • Leave a TradingLead charts workspace open while you want the alert watched.
  • Each saved alert shows "In-app activity", with Live quote or Candle checks as the source.
  • Open the Activity tab to see detected crossings.
  • Pause, resume or delete alerts from Saved alerts.

Indicator condition alerts. If you use your own indicator, you can hand off one of its conditions as a local rule. Choose Activate locally to start it. It stays in this browser only, checks at bar close while the app is active, and logs "no notification sent".

Limitations

  • No email, SMS, push, webhook, sound or desktop notifications.
  • Monitoring stops when the charts workspace closes, the computer sleeps or you go offline.
  • Brief moves between price samples can be missed.
  • Alerts never place orders. Paper practice is covered in paper trading.

Access follows your plan; see pricing.

FAQ

Do alerts sync across devices? Yes, the rules do. Each open workspace checks prices separately.

Can an AI assistant create alerts? Yes, through TradingLead Desktop's AI connection, for price-level alerts.

Why does my trendline alert say the drawing was removed? The chart drawing was deleted, and the alert keeps its last saved coordinates.

Steps

  1. Open a chart at /charts and sign in
  2. Open the Alerts sidebar
  3. Choose Price level or Trendline and place the line
  4. Set condition, price source and repeat
  5. Press Add alert
  6. Keep the charts workspace open and review Activity

Limitations

  • Monitoring needs an open charts workspace.
  • No off-app notifications.
  • Checks sample candles and quotes, not every tick.
  • Message and expiry fields may not be saved until a backend update is deployed.

Frequently asked questions

Why didn't my alert trigger overnight?
Alerts are checked only while a signed-in TradingLead charts workspace is open. If the tab was closed, the computer slept or the connection dropped, nothing was checked.
What is the difference between Crosses above and Touches the line?
Crosses above needs price to move from below the line to above it. Touches the line is for detecting price reaching the line rather than closing through it in one direction.
Which repeat option should I choose?
Only once stops after the first detection. Once per bar allows at most one detection per candle. Every detected crossing records each crossing.
Can I get the alert on my phone?
No. TradingLead has no email, SMS, push, webhook, sound or desktop alert notifications today.
